BROW AFTERCARE
HEALING PROCESS
Your brows will gradually get darker. As they get darker, the scabs will form and as the scabs form your eyebrows will also begin to look darker and thicker. The scabs will then begin falling off in different areas at different times. During the scabbing/peeling process your eyebrows will be really patchy and uneven. When the scab falls off, the pigment underneath the scab will be very light. Almost like, the pigment came off with the scab, but as long as the scab/peeling was not forced off, the color will come back when you're fully healed. If any scabbing/peeling is forced off the pigment will be pulled out and there is a chance of scarring. As soon as all the scabbing is done, you can put makeup on them until the color comes back and you can return to your normal face washing routine.
*Scabbing may resemble dark dry flaking skin
Once you're 4 - 6 weeks healed, you will be able to see the true shape, size and color.
You have to be at least 4 weeks healed to schedule a touch up. To schedule a touch-up please use our booking link, select your artists' picture in the Permanent Makeup Room then select "touch up" option and you will see availability for touch ups. Touch ups start at $250 and are not included with your initial appointment.
Touch up appointments are to make changes like refresh the color, make adjustments to the shape, touch up spots that have faded, to go darker or thicker. Touch ups are not required and only should only be booked if it is needed. If you're unsure if you need a touch up please send pictures of your eyebrows in good lighting to @essemedspa or text 303.900.8833
Only the day of the appointment, gently wash your brows every 30 minutes for a total of 5 times.
Wash with clean fingers and plain warm water. Then let your brows air dry (or pat with a clean paper towel). Do not use any thing too coarse like a towel to dry them.
- Keep your eyebrows as dry as possible until all dark scabbing/dark dry flaky ness has falling off. When you take showers, do not get your eyebrows soaking wet. When washing your face, do not wash your brows with facial cleanser. When showering do not stand directly under the stream of water. Face away from the showerhead and let the water run down the back of your head. If water sprinkles on your brows, it's ok. Let them air dry.
- A little bit of dryness and itchiness is normal, but if you feel really dry and itchy, dab on a very thin layer of ointment. Do not rub it on. Do not put too much on too often, only use it if you need it. No makeup, moisturizers, serums, oils etc, or other products to touch the treated area until you're done scabbing.
- Do not touch your brows or put anything on your brows (except when washing or putting on ointment).
Do not pick, peel, rub or scratch off the scabs. Let the scabs all fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring, loss of pigment or infection.
- Do not sleep on your face to prevent scabs from lifting prematurely.
Use a new/freshly washed pillow case to avoid infection. If you tend to sleep on your side, sleep elevated with a pillow being your back.
- No working out or sweating.
This can cause pigment to be pushed out. If you sweat a little bit immediately dab with a clean new paper towel.
- Do not use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.
- No direct sunlight/tanning booths.
Wear a hat if you will be in the sun for an extended amount of time. This can alter how the color heals. If you're in the sun for a long period of time please wear a hat.
- Avoid saunas, pools, steam rooms or hot tub.
- Avoid facials, chemical treatments, etc.
- It is strongly recommend that you do not use any of the following on your tattoo: Benzoyl Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Glycolic acid, Vitamin E and C, and Retinol/Retin A. These products can lighten or fade your tattoo faster.
- Wear sunscreen - UV rays will deteriorate, lighten and fade the pigment faster.
- Treatment does fade after 1-3 years depending on your skin and lifestyle. Touch-ups are necessary to maintain the longevity and overall beauty of your pigment.
- If you have oily skin, an iron deficiency, or a very strong immune system, or other medical conditions your pigment will not last as long and will not heal as crisp as others.
- Inform your technician of your permanent make up at the time of any laser procedures or MRIs.
- This is rare but please call your doctor if you have major complications
Touch-ups are not required. Touch-ups are to make changes to your PMU. You can make it darker, thicker, small adjustments to the shape, etc.
At about 6 weeks healed you'll be able to see the true shape, size and color of your brows. Touch ups start at $250 and are not included with your initial appointment.
